VGP monitoring requirements for Gray water Discharge

Gray management strategies differ depending on the regulatory regime, vessel type, and where the vessel discharges.
VGP 2013 Part 2.2.15.2 specifies that vessels that were built after December 19, 2013, and have a maximum crew capacity of 15 and providing overnight accommodations.
Vessels that operate on U.S. waters and may discharge Gray water into the waters must comply with the VGP testing and monitoring requirements.
Two samples of Gray water must be collected and analysed every year, with at least 14 days between each collection.
VGP monitoring the discharge of Gray water effluent, the EPA can ensure that it does not contain harmful levels of pollutants.
Collect a sample from each Gray water discharge point and mix, or from a combined Gray water collection tank if available.
The records of the sampling and analysis must be retained on board the vessel for at least 3 years.

Following Analytical methods (EPA & APHA) must be conducted in accordance with 46 CFR Part 136.
